Roto Operator
General Purpose:
As a part of an overall manufacturing team, be able to perform all aspects of printing at the highest quality levels. Responsible for efficient operation of press and ensures quality product from press to next operation. Provides leadership to the press crew and support team. Ensures compliance to Safety and GMP requirements.
Includes the following. Other duties might be assigned:
• Operate press as a member of the Production Team who are multi-skilled and cross-trained on all required process equipment.
• Provide leadership to other crew members in performing quality printing and meeting manufacturing goals.
• Demonstrate expertise on all required rotogravure press equipment and processes.
• Demonstrate knowledge for required ink dispenser operation.
• Organize, lead and perform color matching during set up and production.
• Organize, lead and perform the process to set-up all jobs from set up to production.
• Proficient at process troubleshooting including visual defects, register, color, drying, contamination, etc.
• Provide training to crew members on all equipment and processes.
• Read and understand work orders for current jobs and upcoming jobs.
• Organize, lead and perform all quality checks and make press adjustments accordingly.
• Plan ahead and ensure that all required supports are prepared for current and upcoming jobs.
• Perform appropriate PM on equipment.
• Perform daily and periodic cleaning in order to maintain the required standards throughout the manufacturing area.
• Observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality and production.
• All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required.
Knowledge:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• Basic knowledge of computer software and functions, including PDC and SAP functions.
Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
