Title: Material Handler
MATERIAL HANDLER
Functioning as a part of an overall manufacturing team, performing all functions relating to moving and transporting product within the plant/warehouse and also to/from our warehouses while meeting expectations for quality and delivery while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, cost competitiveness, and safety. Must be a team player with a willingness to learn and adapt to ongoing change.
Includes the following. Other duties might be assigned:
- Perform safety checks and daily safety inspections on forklifts, dock doors, battery charger, as well as overall warehouse.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse.
- Responsible for complying with GMP regulations both internally and externally.
- Responsible for efficiently loading and unloading all inbound and outbound trucks and
- containers.
- Responsible for loading and unloading the curing room as needed.
- Deliver all raw materials to the production floor to include coater/laminator, press, slitters,
- and the ink room prior to actual production.
- Make sure all raw materials stored in the warehouse are secured with plastic completely
- covering each roll and check the condition of rack prongs to ensure safe storage.
- Keep airlock free and clear of materials.
- Package all outbound materials according to specification.
- Prepare all outbound shipments, label, weigh, and record in the appropriate manner.
- Responsible for the accurately using scales to weigh goods before shipment.
- Clear the production floor of all recycled materials (racks, cores, and spacers), in addition to
- raw materials no longer required on the production floor.
- Recommend safety, quality, packaging, and efficiency improvements when applicable
- When return to stock materials are brought back into the warehouse, make sure you inform
- Production Reporting department.
Forklift Driver Skills & Qualifications
- Valid forklift certification (preferred) or recent forklift operating experience (within the past year)
- Safe and efficient operation of sit-down, stand-up, or pallet jack equipment
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including overnight/night shift schedules
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
- Experience loading, unloading, staging, and moving materials in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift and move materials safely (up to specified weight requirements)
- Attention to detail with inventory handling and damage prevention
- Basic inventory and RF scanner experience (preferred)
- Strong reliability and punctuality for shift-based work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Physical ability to stand, sit, and operate equipment for extended periods
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to
- customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
- common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or
- oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- COMPUTER SKILLS
- Basic knowledge of computer software and functions.
