COATER OPERATOR ASSISTANT
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As a part of an overall manufacturing team, assist Coater Operator to perform all aspects of coating and laminating at the highest quality levels. Responsible for helping ensure efficient operation of coater/laminator and ensures quality product from coater/laminator to slitter and press. Ensures compliance to safety and GMP requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Key Activities:
Includes the following. Other duties might be assigned:
- Support operator in performing quality coating/laminating and in meeting manufacturing goals.
- Learn to develop expertise on all coating and laminating equipment and processes.
- Demonstrate and develop knowledge of product structures including webs and wets.
- Develop expertise on coating and adhesive mixing operations.
- Assist operator during job start-ups and perform all quality checks.
- Assist to set-up all jobs (includes CTR/LAM settings and trolley set-up).
- Learn process trouble shooting including visual defects, dying, contamination, etc.
- Learn curing room processes for various structures.
- Read and understand work orders for current jobs and upcoming jobs.
- Perform quality checks and assist with process adjustments accordingly.
- Assist with appropriate PM on equipment.
- Operate Forklift.
- Perform daily and periodic cleaning in order to maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the manufacturing area.
- Observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality and production.
- All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Basic knowledge of computer software and functions, including PDC and SAP functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
